“I aim to be warm, real, and occasionally a little funny… because good therapy doesn't have to feel stiff or clinical. I'll challenge you when it's useful, sit with you when it's hard, and always work at a pace that feels right for you.”
About Me
I'm Aylin, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) and the founder of Inner Worlds Counselling & Psychotherapy.
I believe that therapy is about more than simply reducing symptoms. It's about understanding the experiences, relationships, and patterns that have shaped the way you see yourself, others, and the world around you. Many of the people I work with are insightful and capable, yet find themselves returning to the same emotional or relational patterns despite their best efforts to change. Together, we work to understand these patterns with curiosity rather than judgement, creating space for meaningful and lasting change.
My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I aim to create a space where you can speak openly without feeling rushed, judged, or expected to have everything figured out. My work is grounded in Schema Therapy and informed by psychodynamic and attachment-based principles, with a focus on understanding the deeper patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves and others. From this foundation, I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches to tailor therapy to your individual needs, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. Every person's story is different, and therapy should reflect that.
Before establishing Inner Worlds Counselling & Psychotherapy, I worked across a range of community mental health settings supporting adolescents and adults experiencing diverse mental health challenges. These experiences reinforced the importance of understanding not only symptoms, but also the broader relational, developmental, cultural, and social contexts that influence wellbeing.
I hold a Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) from RMIT University and a Master of Social Work from The University of Melbourne. I am also endorsed by the Australian Association of Social Workers as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, allowing eligible clients to access Medicare rebates through a Mental Health Treatment Plan.
Outside of the therapy room, I'm a creative at heart. I enjoy animation, digital art, sculpting, and exploring new ideas through creative projects. Creativity has shaped the way I think about therapy -there is rarely a single "right" way forward, and meaningful change often begins by seeing familiar experiences from a different perspective.
When I'm not working, you'll probably find me spending time with my family, playing video games, listening to heavy metal, or rewatching Star Trek. While these interests might seem worlds apart from psychotherapy, I think they reflect something important about who I am: I'm endlessly curious about people, stories, and the different ways we make sense of the world.

Why Inner Worlds?
We all carry an inner world - a unique landscape shaped by our experiences, relationships, hopes and fears. Sometimes that inner world feels calm and connected. At other times it can become overwhelming, confusing or critical.
The name Inner Worlds reflects the belief that meaningful change begins with understanding ourselves more deeply. Therapy isn't about fixing who you are. It's about developing a greater understanding of your inner world so that you can relate to yourself and others with more clarity, flexibility and compassion.
