Medicare
Rebates
For Australian Clients, Medicare Rebates ($87.25) are available for up to 10 sessions each year with a GP Referral and a MHCP (Mental Health Care Plan). To get one, all you need to do is book in with your GP, psychiatrist or pediatrician and request one. Once you receive the plan, you can email these documents to us (hello@innerworldscounselling.com.au) and we will be in touch to support you with booking your first appointment.
Payments
Before your first session, you will be asked to provide your card details on our intake form. On the day of your appointment, your card will be charged at 9:00am, and if eligible, your Medicare rebate will be processed on the same day as your session and will automatically return to your nominated bank account.
For your convenience, there is a very small fee to process your Medicare rebate on the same day as we will do this for you. Instead of using eftpos facilities and passing on transaction fees, we use Halaxy to take payments and provide government rebates (instead of you taking receipts to Medicare, which is very time consuming and can take longer to get reimbursed) and pass on these fees to you (maximum cost 1.9% + $1 per transaction).
The Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS)
If you have received funding from the Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (VOCAT/FAS), this may cover the cost of counselling sessions. You may be eligible for this funding if you have been the victim of a crime - you can apply through the Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme website (https://www.victimsofcrime.vic.gov.au/fas).
Depending on your circumstances, you may even be granted immediate funding for counselling from VOCAT/FAS while your application for greater funding is being processed.
You don't need a referral from your GP in order to use this funding for counselling.
We offer report writing and counselling.

We submit invoices directly to FAS.

Attendance Policy
Cancellation, Late Cancellation & No-Show Policy
Our intention is always to be fair and respectful, and we appreciate your understanding when this policy needs to be applied.
This cancellation policy is communicated at the time of booking, in appointment confirmations and reminders, and on our website. We kindly ask that all communication regarding fees or policies is conducted respectfully. We understand that paying a cancel fee can be frustrating, and we genuinely dislike having to enforce it
Why we have a cancellation policy
This policy exists to:
To honour the therapist’s time, which is reserved exclusively for your appointment
To support the smooth running of scheduled sessions and minimise disruptions
To allow other clients the opportunity to access appointments when availability allows
To account for administrative and operational costs already incurred, including booking systems and appointment reminders
To support the sustainability of a private practice, where therapists are not remunerated for unattended or late-cancelled sessions
To reduce the impact of repeated late cancellations or non-attendance on service availability
Because therapy appointments are time-based rather than product-based, missed sessions cannot be replaced or recovered. Late cancellations are often difficult to fill at short notice.
If we are able to offer your cancelled appointment to another client, the cancellation fee will not be charged.
Cancellation Fees
Appointments cancelled within two (2) business days of the scheduled appointment time will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
Appointments cancelled within 24 hours, or failure to attend (no-show), will incur the full session fee.
Cancellation fees are not claimable through Medicare, private health insurance, or other third-party funding bodies.
Fees will be charged to the payment method on file. If payment cannot be processed, an invoice will be issued and sent to your email and payment will be required within the specified timeframe. Ongoing non-payment may result in suspension of future bookings.
Change Modalities – Skip the Cancel:
If unable to attend, consider switching to an online or phone consultation to avoid cancellation fees.
